Reports describe actual starvation in Cuba with international concern. The U S State Department states it is actively aiding relief work and coordinating aid deliveries to address the humanitarian crisis on the island.
The Washington dispatch reports Spain will remit all duties on relief shipments sent by the United States for Cuba. Consul General Lee will direct distribution with aid from Cuban officers, while the Ward line and railroads aid transport. Donations include clothing medicines quinine hard bread and canned goods.
Kid McCoy announces a finish fight challenge to Bob Fitzsimmons for the world middleweight championship. He says he has backing of $10,000 and will post a purse to settle the title in a decisive bout.
