Washington notes the death of Senator Preston B. Plumb of Kansas from apoplexy after a night of severe headache and vomiting. He died at 11:49 a.m. after returning from Philadelphia to attend the Senate session. Formal funeral arrangements and obsequies in the Senate followed with elected representatives and diplomats attending. The cortege will travel to Emporia, Kansas, for the funeral set for Thursday at 2 p.m. with both Senate and House committees in charge.
