Advertised health claim extols Syrup of Figs for cleansing kidneys and bowels, dispelling colds and fevers, and curing constipation. It is described as pleasant to taste, produced from healthy substances, and available in 50c and 1 dollar bottles through leading druggists with substitutions discouraged.
An old remedy praised for teething relief, calming gums, easing wind colic, and treating diarrhoea. Sold by druggists worldwide for twenty five cents a bottle. Promotes safe, pleasant taste and decades of trusted use among mothers. Be sure to ask for Mrs Winslow’s Soothing Syrup and reject other brands.
Miles Nerve and Liver Pills claim to regulate liver stomach and bowels via nerves. The ad touts Dr Miles pills as fast to cure biliousness torpid liver and constipation for all ages with 50 doses two dollars and free samples at druggists. A proverbial line accompanies the promotion.
Dr. J W Hamilton of Merrillan Wisconsin touts Warner's White Wine Tar Syrup as the best cough medicine and supremely effective for asthma. Sold by Q J Noblitt. Also recommended are Simmons Liver Regulator for bowel regularity and claims one dose equals 100 dollars in value. Blue eyed boys labeled as more likely to be lost than brown or black eyed ones. J W Poynts notes years of kidney ailments cured by Simmons Liver Regulator.
The fair at Crump's Washington Street room aims to draw crowds next Friday and Saturday with a doll prize for the top girl seller and opera glasses for top voters. Nellie Reynolds and Tony Lindley lead, with Hannah Spiece and Ida Davis already in for the glasses, plus oysters, music, grab-bags, a fish pond, and a gold headed cane to be awarded to one of two older gentlemen.
County commissioners ordered four and a half foot heavy guard rails installed at the east end of Driftwood bridge for team protection. Thomas Coup contract already let to begin work immediately.
