A Birch Tree Missouri report describes three men riding into Monteer near St. Louis robbing a store and post office. They overawed customers with a rifle, took cash and a box from the post office, seized horses, fired twice, and fled south as a posse forms.
In Washington on December 5 bills were introduced in the Senate. Sewell proposed amending the dependent pension act of 1890 to extend benefits to acting assistant surgeons and their families. Gray urged enforcing the International American Conference recommendations by creating an International American Bank. Lodge backed immigration changes to bar those aged 14 to 60 who cannot read and write English or another language.
