Plot to Blow Up Fort Wayne Jail Foiled by Sheriff

In Fort Wayne Indiana Sheriff Melching exposed a plot to blow the Allen County jail with dynamite led by Joan Riley alias John F Butler a Chicago crook recently sentenced to ten years at Michigan City for burglary Also involved were Charles Mogauson and Charles Hammond both given five year terms The dynamite was smuggled in by a released man who paid Riley fifteen dollars for the job The plan aimed to blow a window at supper and slip out through the resulting hole. the device was discovered by a deputy. They will be moved to Michigan City tomorrow.
