A Reno O T dispatch reports four men arrested for the murder of T M Pemberton near Weatherford amid wild crowds and expected lynching. Earlier reports claimed a lynching occurred, later denied. Pemberton's body arrived Friday night in Reno and was sent to Glasgow Kentucky. The men’s names were not confirmed. authorities say robbery motivated the crime.
In Kennedy Alabama a cutting affray left W. S. Clardy fatally stabbed and John Hollingsworth severely wounded after he stabbed Sanders who he believed pulled Clardy away. The Columbus Mississippi dispatch notes the city marshal shot Hollingsworth in the head during the attempt to arrest him. The fight stemmed from family matters between Hollingsworth and Clardy.
April 13 report from Springfield states Lincoln’s remains may be moved from the temporary vault after the Lincoln monument reconstruction. The hermetically sealed casket may not be opened, pending verification of identity and preservation state. past openings occurred in 1857 and 1887 with small crowds and noted preservation.
Witsenbarre Pa April 13 The tie up in the car shops of the Central Railroad of New Jersey at Ashley is complete as machinists blacksmiths and laborers join the car men who struck Thursday A few men remain at work but officials ordered a shutdown leaving about 6235 idle Superintendent Thomas went to New York to confer with General Manager Warren Strikers expect Warren to reinstate 27 discharged men which would end the strike.
A report from Buena Vista California says a huge avalanche swept the Italian mountain in Taylor park about 40 miles west of town. Several mines on the mountain have operated all winter employing around 300 men. Telegraph communication is distant. it may take days to verify details.
Havana reports the Cuban constitutional convention records its opposition to the Platt amendment by an 18 to 10 vote. It cites objection to clause terms and cites Clauses II, VI, and VIE as problematic, arguing the stance hinders any future commission to Washington.

Frank C. Bostock, manager of the Indianapolis Zoo, was severely injured by Rajah the Bengal tiger during a Friday arena trial. Keeper Bonavita and others intervened. Bostock suffered a concussion and was moved to his rooms for treatment.
Washington April 13. It is learned there will be no original appointment to the Caracas post vacated by Minister Loomis. The state department expects to transfer a U S minister now serving in another capacity, but it is not yet known who will be chosen.
Mrs Elizabeth Comer as administrator of the three children of William Poor filed suit in Anderson Indiana on April 13 seeking 2000 damages from Jack Noonan alleging Poor died after drinking at Noonan s saloon when he lost balance and fell from a verandah. Michael Costello and Maurice Wallace on Noonan s bond are named as parties.
Indianapolis April 13 The Central Avenue Methodist church with 1500 members, one of the state’s largest, has decided to call Rev J W Kellogg of Portland Ore to the pulpit to succeed Rev G C Lasby who goes to New Haven.
The Baltimore & Ohio Southwestern railroad builds a historic Indiana bridge near Osgood. The Laughery creek span reaches 1,080 feet long and 112 feet high at center, weighing about 2 550 000 pounds.
Charlestown Indiana April 13 Aud ley the 8 year old son of James A Johnson died at 1 o clock Friday morning from suffocation caused by a grain of torn which got into his windpipe.
In Lafayette Indiana on April 13 more than 100 slot machine operators were arrested and fined for illegal gambling. The grand jury has also reported indictments for other forms of gambling.
Martinsville Indiana April 13 The Wabash Presbytery of the Cumberland Presbyterian church has closed its meetings to meet in Logansport next spring.
Ellbert H. Shirk cashier of the Tipton county bank died Friday morning in Windfall Indiana. His estate is believed to total about 500000 dollars.
In Pittsburgh on April 13 a Mount Washington grocer was killed defending his wife during a burglary. Detectives found the felons at 32 Fulton street after a fierce gunfight in which City Detective Patrick E. Fitzgerald was killed. Four suspects from Chicago were arrested. diamonds worth 3000 to 4000 dollars recovered. one wounded detainee hospitalized.
In Sylvania Georgia on April 13 Kennedy Gordon a Black man accused of assaulting a girl near Portal was believed lynched Thursday night after a chase and shooting. He had been arrested in North Carolina and wounded by buckshot while attempting to escape then seized by a mob at Portal.
Secretary Long received a dispatch from Commander Hemphill stating the torpedo boat Thornton ran about 45 minutes on the Barren island course at 26.5 knots before the forward boiler gave out. No one was hurt. The contract requires a two hour run at 26 knots. Major repairs will be needed before another trial.
Eugene Lynn of Chicago is having a 77 foot boat built on the Calumet river banks for a water trip to Mobile Alabama. The journey will start on the Chicago river go to the drainage canal then down the Illinois and Mississippi to New Orleans and Lake Pontchartrain before reaching Mobile Bay. He will be joined by his wife and son.
Guthrie Oklahoma April 13 The Christian church four miles north of Ripley Oklahoma was destroyed by dynamite. No arrests have been made. The church was a new structure and was only recently dedicated.
Bert Cassidy, a Chicago newspaper artist and reporter, shot himself at his desk in the Daily News editorial rooms after a year of domestic troubles and a filed divorce petition. He told a colleague goodbye before the fatal act and died Friday night at St Luke's hospital. He was the son of E B Cassidy, a Cincinnati architect. his sister Genevieve Lawrence also hailed from Cincinnati.
In Tuscumbia Alabama on April 13 Emmett Crittenden a farmer shot and killed a Negro named West after West allegedly assaulted Crittenden’s eldest daughter. Crittenden surrendered to the sheriff after the incident. Separately Fernando Yznaga’s will leaves all property to his sister Consuelo duchess of Manchester with estate valued at 2 million dollars and personal property at 35 thousand dollars executors named Henry Holsins and W K Vanderbilt.
