In Bradford Pennsylvania on April 12 a mob of more than 300 men and women attacked and burned a vacant Second ward schoolhouse used as a temporary pest house. They seized night watchman Charles Story and destroyed carpenters tools with no arrests reported.
In Frankfort on April 12 judge W N Yost confirms testimonies by W C Bradley and others in the Garnett Ripley case. The defense may call Ripley to corroborate Bradley and Yost about conversations with ex Gov Taylor including the claim Goebel has not 24 hours to live. Ripley, angered by Gov Taylor, faced mental distress and possible drunkenness while overseeing guards at the executive mansion before a transfer to the state house square.
At Mt Vernon on April 12 the French ambassador M Cambon and the Duguay Trouin crew laid a wreath on Washington's tomb. The ceremony marked continued fraternal ties between France and the United States.

Eden Vin Riper of San Jose has carried a tin fragment from a bullet wound since the Atlanta battle on July 22, 1864. In that fight a bullet struck the left temple area, traversed the skull, and exited behind the ear, the tin cartridge adding pain and danger.
Harrisburg April 12 A joint resolution was adopted providing 35000 for a Pennsylvania commission to represent the state at the St. Louis exposition. The commission includes five senators eight representatives and the president and speaker. They will erect in 1902 a building on the exposition grounds costing up to 36000.
Senator Scott and Representative Gaines introduced a delegation of Third district lawyers from West Virginia to the president on Thursday. They urged the appointment of C. W. Dillon of Fayette County to the new federal judgeship created by the last Congress.
Washington reports Robert P Skinner of Ohio, appointed Thursday as consul general at Marseilles France. A native of Massillon he first received the Marseilles post at the start of McKinley's first administration and has been re appointed to the old post with the rank of consul general.

Contributors include Gen Miles Adjt Gen Corbin and others. Inscription reads Presented to Hon George D Meiklejohn on his retirement from the office of assistant secretary of war by his friends in the war department April 41 1901.
