The Columbia Junior Chamber of Commerce will operate a rest stop on the by pass at Carl Street over Labor Day weekend. This second event follows a successful July 4 effort. Free coffee lemonade Pepsicola doughnuts cake brownies and cupcakes will be served. Open Friday Sept 3 at 4 p.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday then 3 p.m. Sunday to Monday midnight. No charge no contributions. The AAA Illinois Division launches its 33rd September School Opening Safety Campaign as drivers are urged to be child alert. Local Man Dies in Red Bud Hospital
In Madonnaville, Mr. Niebruegge died Friday at 12 30 p.m. at St. Clement's Hospital Red Bud after one week as a patient. A Harrisonville native and Monroe County resident, he led the Niebruegge Sondag hardware firm at Valmeyer. Surviving are his son John H. Niebruegge Jr. of Breese, a half sister Frances Lerch of Valmeyer, and step-brother Mens Josten of Waterloo.

About 4 45 pm he drove to the fire house where Columbia Volunteer Firemen gave him oxygen. The cause is not known but he may have been adjusting a gas line or making a connection.

1965 Crop Soybean County Support Rate Set
