Richard L. Martin of 235 N. Metter, Columbia, pleaded guilty on two charges in Circuit Court. Judge Alvin Maeys fined him a total of 60 dollars plus 32 dollars in costs after he was picked up on June 16 for driving with an altered license and for improper language. The Southern Illinois University library received about 3000 volumes on Orient and Western philosophy and religion in memory of Prof. William Henry Harris who died last fall. The gift comes from his mother Mrs. Mary Harris of Kansas City Missouri. Harris chaired SIU’s Asian Studies Committee and Religious Foundations Committee and held multiple Fulbright research and teaching grants in India and Taiwan. He taught previously at the University of Arkansas and held visiting posts at Garrett Theological Seminary and Scarrett College. He was born in Wann Oklahoma and earned a PhD from Boston University.
