Adolph Rohm Wins World's Kloepper Championship at Strassenfest
A large crowd attended the sixth annual Strassenfest in Columbia with estimates between 35 000 and 50 000 over three days. Adolph Rohm of 603 S Main St Columbia won the World's Kloepper Championship. finalists included Mrs Rebecca Luhr and Loren Menzel. The event benefited the Columbia Chamber of Commerce and featured a new Coin Model and Hobby Show with widespread media coverage.

Destroying Dies For Sesquicentennial Coin Gene Haller, Albert C. Metter, Arthur P. Wink and Leo A. Weisbach are shown defacing the dies used for Monroe County Sesquicentennial medallions. The dies cost 450 dollars and were altered to prevent more minting. All silver medallions sold. only 1.50 dollar bronze medallions remain, sold at the Monroe County Fair and other events with mail orders through Monroe National Bank in Columbia.

Louis G. Stickann 93 of 415 S Church St Waterloo died at home Monday night. A native of Dresden Germany he lived in the Waterloo area 83 years retired machinist. Funeral services were held today at Immanuel Lutheran Church Waterloo burial in Kolmer Memorial Cemetery Quernheim Funeral Home in charge. Survived by four daughters Mrs Herman Emma Wolf Mrs Frieda Preude Mrs Paul Ida Krause of Red Bud Mrs Forrest Louise Alderson of Columbia a sister Mrs William Wolf of St Louis a brother Henry Stickam of Chicago nine grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Anna K Schneider 95 formerly of Columbia died last week at Monroe County Nursing Home Waterloo where she lived nine years. A Burksville native and Monroe County lifelong resident, she funeral services were held Friday at Quernheim Funeral Home Waterloo with burial in Burksville Cemetery. Survived by sister Louisa Jaenke of Columbia and nieces and nephews.

Theresa Wappel 78 of 28 Chaucer Dr Belleville died on arrival at St Elizabeths Hospital after months of illness. She was born in Hungary and lived in East St Louis before moving to Belleville ten years ago. Widow of Joseph Wappel she is survived by three sons Frank Rosenberg Herman and Louis and three daughters including Mrs Arthur Pier.
