Malinda Young died on February 4 at Centreville Township Hospital at 4 a.m. She was born July 23 1898 in East Carondelet to the late Albin and Bertha Mueller. Funeral services were February 7 at Sacred Heart Church Dupo with burial at Valhalla Cemetery Belleville. Survived by husband Harry, son Gilbert Bud Young R R J Dupo, daughter Rachel Steinhardt Little Rock Ark, sister Ferna Hoffmann East Carondelet, four grandchildren Michael J Young Judith Schmitt Bruce Steinhardt Denise Wolfe, one great grandson Eric Young. A break in at Monroe County Electric Cooperative caused about 200 dollars in cash to vanish. The thieves entered via the back garage, breached the safe wall, and left several checks, plus an adding machine and a copy machine. Elmer Buss discovered the theft, sheriff notified.

Police Patrol Car Damaged In Route 4 Collision
Sergeant Walter J. Riebeling of the Columbia Police Department suffered a broken collar bone and bruised ribs when a station wagon driven by Mrs. Charles Sumoski collided with a patrol car at the F A Route 4 and Carl Street intersection on February 6. Riebeling was taken to St Elizabeth's Hospital and released, while Sumoski was uninjured. The police car is expected to be total loss.
