The Monroe County Electric Co op relocated to a new Route 3 north of Waterloo building on November 26. The facility includes a main office six office rooms a duplicating and addressing room board room two rest rooms locker room vault kitchen a warehouse garage and storage rooms. The building is heated and cooled by electricity with state of the art office and maintenance equipment. Architects were Weisenstein Rogers and Hausmann Inc Belleville and the Buckley Construction Co of Fenton MO served as general contractor.
The Columbia Rotary Club installed the annual Main Street decorations on Sunday afternoon. Artificial flower baskets with red foil bases hung on light standards, complementing cone shaped trees in Christmas colors placed along and near Main Street by the Chamber of Commerce and the Jaycees.
The Columbia Parent Teacher Association presents a Christmas Concert by the Columbia High School chorus directed by James McHaney and the band directed by Uhl Sackman. Kenneth Barger narrates a tableaux of scenes. The event starts at 8:00 p.m. on December 6 at the high school with free admission.
James Mahoney died in St. Elizabeths Hospital Belleville where he had been a patient. He was superintendent of maintenance for the city of Columbia. Funeral services will be held at Schmidt Funeral Home in Columbia for Immaculate Conception Church at 9:30 a.m. Monday December 6 with burial in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. David Head, 18, of Monroe County, received 90 days at Vandalia State Penal Farm after pleading guilty to stealing gasoline on November 25 from Walter Hagemeyer’s farm in Fults. He also pled guilty to trespassing and faces sentencing on December 13. Rodenberg, his son Glenn and Donald Matzenbacher aided in catching Head during the theft.
The Illinois Division of Vocational Rehabilitation reports 6 011 people rehabilitated in the fiscal year ending June 30 1965, a 60 percent rise over the prior year. The division aided 19 543 handicapped individuals with offices across the state and estimated first year earnings of 15 442 440 for rehabilitated clients and tax contributions of about 2 161 941.

Auditor Michael J. Howlett announced mailing warrants to state legislators for the 7500 annual salary raise approved by the 73d General Assembly in 1963. Urban C Schmidt Jr 37 of Columbia died from severe burns after tripping over a live power line on his Waterloo farm. He was taken to Sirmin Desloge Hospital in St. Louis after the Friday evening storm damaged lines. Survivors include his wife Julia Ann Schmidt and two sons, with funeral services held at Immaculate Conception Church.
The Columbia Rotary Club welcomed the Columbia Volunteer Firemen for a regular weekly gathering at Eberhard's Restaurant. Senator John Gilbert and Representatives Ed Lehman Harold Stedelin will attend a December 9 Thank You Dinner in Belleville at the Carriage House Restaurant. The event honors about 3,000 Kaskaskia Valley educators for an outstanding year of educational legislation with 100 leaders from six counties attending. Co chairs are B. D. Middleton and Mrs LaDonna Neudecker.
Members of the Millstadt Commercial Club vote to buy about forty acres of land adjoining the village south boundary. The site, formerly part of the Morgan Coal mine holdings, was owned by Charles Thomas and is being acquired to attract new industry to Millstadt.
