A Bethany Methodist Church Sunday School group from Bethany visited the Mount Vernon Children's Home in Ill to see the care provided for children without homes. Adults included Mrs. Pat Weston Mrs. Faye Clifton and Mrs. Barbara Schaller with their pastor John Wood. The trip raised another offering for children and noted generous gifts of a horse and ponies for the Home.

Dill Receives Rolla Summer Institute Certificate
Dian Dill of Columbia Community Unit No 4 School earned a certificate for completing an eight week summer institute in chemistry physics and mathematics at the University of Missouri Rolla. The program sponsored by the National Science Foundation was directed by Dr Harold O Fuller and aimed to improve science and math training for secondary teachers. Dill teaches mathematics at Columbia High School.
