American Legion Memorial Park Marks Ninth Anniversary in July
The July anniversary notes the 22 acre purchase in 1956 from Elmer Oerter for 22000 dollars. By 1957 eight acres held four ball diamonds, with a May 1958 dedication. Improvements include lights, bleachers, rest room, concession stand, and geodesic shelter. About 150 players use the park on busy summer nights under donated lighting.

Monroe County 4-H Delegates Attend State Leadership Conference
Larry Frees Irene Huch Dan Guebert and Rose Ann Mehrtens were Monroe County delegates to the State 4-H Junior Leadership Conference at the State 4-H Memorial Camp Monticello July 26 31. The camp trains outstanding 4-H members in leadership to strengthen county programs. Delegates will report back to local groups about their experiences, sharing discussions on 4-H leadership principles and personal development.
