Roy Sowell Hurt In Bad Runaway
Roy Sowell and Ashley Sowell were in a buggy when a frightened horse ran away on the road to Sowell's Ford. Roy was thrown and dragged, suffering a forehead cut and arm and side injuries. Ashley was unhurt and the buggy was demolished.

Bondsmen refuse responsibility in perjury cases
Bondsmen for Mattie Buchan and Laura Mitchell surrendered them after indictment for perjury and they were rearrested Tuesday afternoon in Mt. Pleasant. Deputy W J Goad took them to Columbia where they remain jailed awaiting the November circuit term. Listed bondsmen Charles A Jordan Charles Singleton John Smith and Louis Barker posted $250 each totaling $500 and still in jail.
