Depot plans loom as council weighs crossing rule

The Board of Mayor and Aldermen met last Thursday approving a railroad crossing use ordinance tied to a new depot. G T Hughes of the Louisville and Nashville railroad said plans locate the depot between High street and the existing station, with trains stopping to receive and discharge passengers blocking the crossing briefly. The stock law was tabled for later action, and the city discussed electric light voltage upgrades and a six-phone proposal from Bell Telephone in lieu of a tax. A hay market committee was named to find a suitable gathering place for mules and horses on busy days.
