Twenty nine people were killed when bombs exploded at the Diana theatre in Milan during an operetta performance. Many others were injured as the blast ignited a riot with mobs wrecking Socialist and Anarchist publications and attempting to burn editorial offices.
United Press reports President Harding and his advisers plan to announce a policy toward Soviet Russia with steps not yet decided but a clear move toward closer relations expected.
The Tennessee Orphan Home will dine with handsome silver knives forks and spoons thanks to gifts from James P Street and O. A Dorton. The donation includes tea spoons table spoons knives and forks and signals the start of a planned gift shower for the home.
May 6 is designated as a general cleanup day by Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in conjunction with the Local Red Cross and Federation of Woman's Clubs to make Columbia a spot town. The aim is a thoroughly clean city with an advertising campaign ramping up before the event.
Inclement conditions limited activities at the community club gathering but a notable program was conducted. Attendees appreciated the efforts despite the day’s challenges and enjoyed portions of the program.
Rival candidates from Medbowell and Culleoka arrive at Central High School for a daylong school contest gathering. Officials expect a large field in both literary and athletic events with many dark horses entering from other county schools. Visiting teams and teachers will be accommodated as the meet proceeds through the morning and possibly into the afternoon.
Tennessee to present medals to next of kin of 3000 war dead if the senate resolution passes the lower house. Medals feature the state seal and are to be struck and distributed under the historical commission.
The Columbia Auto Show promoters urge city merchants to decorate store fronts and windows for a four day event starting next Wednesday March Sixt. Merchants have offered their display space and advertising support and are asked to hang flags and bunting to dress the town in gala attire.
County and home demonstration agents gathered at 10 o'clock in the chancery courtroom for a two day session. Professor James Minne Dean opened the meeting and delegates reported strong progress in community organization and county councils of agriculture. The program included discussions of fairs at county, community and state levels as well as a planned joint session with women and men agents this afternoon.

Senator Looney’s annexation bill clears first reading in the house and moves to municipal affairs. Advocates say Jones and Russell previously pledged to pass responsibility to Looney, signaling strategic political maneuvering in a closely watched measure.
The February term of circuit court will close on Thursday March 31 with trials set for Monday through Thursday next week. The grand jury will meet to finish work and inspect county institutions as cases including the Branham and Hughes dormitory arson are investigated. District actions may shift to Waynesboro for the Wayne county term afterward.
A bloodhound posse nears Thalmann Georgia as a second attempt in a week to wreck an Atlanta Birmingham and Atlantic railway train is investigated. Officials report the engineer on passenger train No 1 found a doctored switch near Thal tin.
County agents here to attend the district meeting will be extended courtesies while here. Tonight they will be the guests of Manager Jackson of the New Grand. Tomorrow at noon they will go to the Kiwanis Club at Kimwon. If time and weather permit they may visit the Tennessee Experiment Station at Middly.
Almon J Simms editor of the division of extension publications is here to attend the conference of county agents for this district. Simms is a well known newspaper man in the state and writes for many publications regularly using this copy.

United Press dispatch notes the move as part of proceedings surrounding the Stillman matter. The article places the event in Miami with reference to the ongoing divorce case and Leeda’s travel.
In Nashville Time on March 2 a proposed repeal would dissolve the state auditor role and create a new inspectorate for a county and state segment. The measure, presented by Democrats, seeks to redefine oversight as part of a broader reform package.

The cabinet debates martial law while President Hoersting vows forceful action. Analysts link unrest to discontent with Allied terms. authorities deny Soviet Russia orchestration. The effort to seize power is reportedly being contained.
Greek forces press a rapid advance in Asia Minor, pushing Turkish units back beyond the Baghdad railway line. Athens reports an irresistible drive by Greek armies along the front, with Turkish retreats continuing as the Greek communiqué states.
On Wednesday night March 30 the pupils of Misses Godwin and Oakley present a program at Theta School. Thursday they stage a ribald Romeo play and Friday the graduates with the Idaeth grade pupils present a closing program. Reverend B I Robinson will award certificates and deliver a graduating address.
Nashville March 24. Representative Jones introduced a bill to amend the new road law for Maury County. It is understood the bill makes minor selections and features of the act which have been variously construed.
