Maury County farmers prepare for Irish potato movement with digging to begin next week and bulk shipments starting the first Monday of July. Army Horse and Mule Purchase Contract Report
R F Moore and Son have secured a contract to supply horses and mules to the United States Army. They will deploy buyers to adjoining counties next Saturday to procure suitable stock. Large Turnip Found in Lawrence County
Bob Stages a brakeman on the Louisville and Nashville Railway submitted a remarkably large turnip to The Herald. It measured 27 by 24 inches and weighed about 15 pounds while he was on the Napier Branch right of way in Lawrence County.

J F P Brittain, father of W E Brittain of Holt's Corner Marshall County, died at his home aged eighty six. A Confederate veteran of four years and longtime Methodist, he is survived by eight children and one brother T C Brittain. Funeral Sunday at Holt's Corner cemetery.

Noble Woman Called by Death in Santa Fe
Mrs. Sallie Page Allen died Friday afternoon at her Santa Fe home after a brief illness. Wife of Moody Allen and mother of three children, she was known for her sweet disposition and strong faith as a Methodist. Funeral services were held at Santa Fe Methodist Church with Dr. Robert Waite officiating and many attendees.
