United Press report from Dublin says precautionary measures were adopted by the British government after a troop train was derailed yesterday. The train survived a heavy Sinn Fein rifle onslaught with all soldiers uninjured, while attackers reportedly suffered heavy losses.
Mayor W C Cherry City Attorney Hughlee Webster and possibly J M Dedman plan to attend a Nashville session of the municipal league. Secretary Charles Gilbert called Dedman who urged Cherry and Webster to ensure Columbia representation as the league prepares to discuss municipality extensions and future recommendations to the legislature.

Elwood B. Wade thanked Judge Hinton after being sentenced to death for the murder of George B. Knott in Bridgeport Connecticut. Wade smiled and nodded to friends as officers led him from the courtroom.
United Press reports a mob overpowered a jail in Jasper Alabama and lynched Wall Beard a miner charged with killing National Guardsman James Morris. Beard was taken from jail and executed with a volley of fourteen bullets two and a half miles from Jasper.
Abe Bauman announces the annual inventory sale at Bogatzky & Tanmag offering clothing and furnishing goods at half their former prices. The sale covers men and boys wear and nearly all items in stock as the store clears inventories with sharp reductions.
