Cheney hopes to regain possession without legal action as the suspect and details of the loss remain under investigation.
In Mexico City on February 20 a jeweler confessed to attempting to defraud the revenue department by smuggling jewels and gold watches in an ice cream freezer delivered at Vera Cruz from Europe. He says the plot was planned with a Paris jeweler who urged the scheme. About twenty thousand dollars of goods were found in the bottom of the freezer and were confiscated. He faces fines and imprisonment.

Richmond Indiana February 19 oil men in the state organize to oppose Standard Oil Company advances on the Indiana oil field. The plan includes building an independent refinery in Indiana to curb the great corporation.
Lytoville, Tenn. Feb. 17. During ten days of severe weather farmer Johe R. Bryant of Mooresville has lost 150 dollars worth of lambs and a fine cost valued at 100. Other heavy losses are reported from various sections.
