Special to The Herald Dixon Jr wired his Raleigh agents to accept service for a fifty thousand dollar slander suit tied to The Traitor Company. The case centers on a reply to Judge Montgomery and the production of The Traitor in North Carolina. The trial will test whether the piece merits the virulent attack and recalls a historic 1872 replica in North Carolina.

Widow Mrs Helen E B Annis testified for nearly three hours picturing the killing of her husband, William E Annis, by Captain Peter Halas Jr at the Bay Side Yacht Club. She described sounding the alarm as she saw her husband fall into the water after Hains beckoned his brother and pressed a revolver to her back. The defense pressed the “beckoning” episode while she remained on the stand amid dramatic courtroom tension.
