Census boom in Mt Pleasant hints whiskey fate

Population rose from 465 in 1890 to 2007 in 1900, a gain of 1542, crossing the 2000 mark just eight votes shy of the four mile law threshold. The 1900 census likely won’t alter Mt Pleasant election laws as both districts remain under 2500, though_if either district hits 2500 the Dorthey law would apply only partially, causing confusion.
