Private Lawrence J Frierson listed as wounded in today’s casualty report with undetermined degree. He is the son of the late L L Frierson of Columbia and nephew of Mrs Clarke of Mt Pleasant. A letter from him said he was wounded in the St Mihiel drive and later that he left hospital and returned home.
Washington dispatch reports the Federal Trade Commission will not recommend government ownership of meat packing plants. Chairman Colver cited influential forces opposing public interest and proposed licensing akin to wartime licenses as best for regulating the industry. Death last night in Maury county brings loss to a devout family. Amelia S Brown widow of Col Allen Brown Confederate veteran died at The Kings Daughters Hospital after a month of illness including pneumonia. Service at St Peters Episcopal church conducted by Dr George O Vaux at 3 pm with interment in Rose Hill Cemetery.
