Mrs. Oliver H. Dildine of Anness Kansas visits relatives in Swenada Mon tour county at the Moore home. She plans to stay in the East through October. Accompanying her are Mr and Mrs Park Moore and Mrs Boyd Moore who went to Bloomsburg last Friday to transact business and visit friends.

Julius Altmiller and his Hazleton family were entertained this week as guests of Dr. and Mrs. Chas. F. Altmiller.
Joseph Flaherty who stayed with the Grand Lodge of Elks at Denver Colorado last week has come back home. He reports a delightful time.
Hurley Walters assistant clerk in the Commissioners office leaves the sick list and resumes duties after several days away. His return restores the office staffing as records are updated.
Sept W W Evans spent part of Monday and Tuesday in the southern part of the county promoting the Public Schools in that section.
Dr. and Mrs. M. J. Hess and Rev. and Mrs. Heckman are spending the week in the Poconos where Dr. Hess and Rev. Heckman will try their hand at fishing.
The Citizen's Band performed Tuesday evening on the lawn of Harry Sterner at Fifth and West streets. A good sized audience greatly enjoyed the concert.
Mrs. Henry J. Purser of East street was admitted to Bloomsburg Hospital for an operation on Tuesday and is recovering steadily. Bruce Girton, badly injured at Benton on July 4, has recovered enough to return home, and friends hope he will soon be able to get about again.
For the last four Sundays in August Rev F O Musser and his wife will be away from town. Morning services at Saint Paul's Episcopal Church will be conducted by Rev C E Kelsey of Berwick during the pastor’s absence. Elijah Strohm of Hill Publishing Co New York arrives tomorrow to spend two weeks visiting his parents and relatives in East Fourth Street with his wife and daughter already in town.
The federal government prepares to file a civil suit to dissolve the New Haven railroad system. President Wilson orders action and directs the attorney general to seek criminal indictments against officers and directors, with T. W. Gregory in charge and a grand jury to be convened in New York. Potential indictments target Charles Mellen and associates.
The attorney general wrote to the president issuing a rebuke to the interstate commerce commission for subpoenaing Mellen and perhaps others flagrantly culpable. The letter warned such moves could embarrass the department by claims of immunity in return for testimony.
Mr. McReynolds stated that prosecutions were always contemplated and that guilty parties would not escape. The department claims evidence that Mr Mellen testified to the commission contradicting evidence in the attorney general’s possession. It may challenge any immunity claim on this issue and blames New Haven directors for failing to dissolve peacefully and for refusing to sell Boston and Maine stock.
Washington reports Secretary Bryan urged Carranza and Villa to set aside personal differences to back a unified constitutionalist leadership in Mexico. The appeal, sent via John R. Silliman, signals U S aims to end revolts once a responsible government takes power in Mexico City and was conveyed through Consular Agent Carothers.

Goodell 83 dies in Salem Massachusetts, editor publisher with notable witchcraft library. Dr Thatcher Howard Guilde 35 head of dramatic literature at University of Illinois, drops dead in Champaign while playing tennis.
Reported that Bloomsburg School Board officers safeguarded orders coupons and other official documents during a routine audit ensuring no discrepancies emerged. The account review focused on proper handling and preservation of municipal records.
Officials recall Krickbaum's altered Larish order after it was issued by County Commissioners. The piece notes the order may have been wrapped up by accident or design and reprints the Larish directive as a reminder of prudence in handling the files.

Lydia Miller born July 18 1814 in Lehigh county marks her 100th birthday at home with relatives in Mount Carmel. She lived in Mifflin township near Mifflinville with husband Henry Miller who led singing at the old German church. Relatives to the fourth generation still reside in Mifflinville.
The fair association officers and executive committee held an all day meeting last Saturday. Reports from all departments were received and livestock judges as well as race officials were appointed. Other business of importance was transacted.
John Reimard and Miss Ethel Arbuckle, both of town, were married at Elkton Maryland last Saturday in a ceremony that astonished many friends. Dannie Breece and Richard Umstead have worked in Scotch Valley for three weeks. The Baptist Sunday School held its annual picnic at Columbia Park yesterday. Frank P. Edwars won the electrical contract for two Tamaqua school buildings. Mrs. F. H. Jett of Terre Haute is visiting her parents the county treasurer and Mrs I L Rabb. Dr J S Lazarus at his farm has installed an electric motor to pump water into his buildings.
