Presbyterian Sunday School Moves Into New Building
The Presbyterian Sunday School opened in its new facility last Sunday morning. The building is complete and up to date with separate apartments for each department and a main room that can be opened to the entire space. The Men's Bible Class and Junior Department are in the Fourth street wing. The basement serves as a gymnasium and includes a kitchen, shower baths, locker rooms and toilets.

Obituary: Gotleib Smith Dies After Illness on West Main
After almost four years of illness and great pain Gotleib Smith died at his West Main street home on Wednesday morning from a complication of diseases. He had lived in town over twenty years and ran a grocery and meat market at Main and Railroad streets. He was a Methodist church member. Survived by his widow two daughters and four sons. Funeral services will be held this afternoon.

Berwick Boy Drowned After Canoe Capsize
Harold Reitmeyer eleven, son of Mr and Mrs G E Reitmeyer of Berwick, drowned in the river Monday afternoon when his canoe capsized. He clung to companion Walter Burk while both struggled. Reitmeyer could not swim and Burk nearly drowned too. Body not recovered at press time.

Electric Chair's First Victim in Western Penitentiary
John Talap a wife murderer from Stowe Montgomery county paid the death penalty in the electric chair shortly after 7 o'clock Tuesday morning in the new Western Penitentiary at Rockview Centre county. Sixteen witnesses watched the first Pennsylvania electrocution with no irregularities. Talap slept until 4 45 a m and received a private mass after breakfast. Father Antonio Ulanitzky prayed with the condemned man as he sobbed and confessed. Talap entered the chair at 7 o 0 and 2200 volt shocks followed at 7 16 7 21 when Dr Campbell pronounced him dead. Autopsy followed and the body was sent to Montgomery county relatives.
