Since the Y M C A disappeared years ago Bloomsburg has felt a growing need for a modern association. Hundreds of young men and boys have joined the drive to establish a clean place for evenings and leisure. A march from the Court House, led by a band, will move to the tabernacle to spur citizens to back Bloomsburg’s great need.
Bishop James H. Darlington of the Harrisburg Diocese led a confirmation at St Pauls Church on Sunday morning for a class of twenty three. He also confirmed sixty six at Christ Episcopal Church Berwick Saturday night and another class at Catawissa Sunday afternoon.
Freas Rupert of Beaver Valley was jailed after attempting to lecture Judge Evans on gambling for drinks in court last Monday. He was turned over to Sheriff Rice for contempt, marking the first contempt sentence in the county in many years.
Joseph Puterbaugh nine years old, son of Mr and Mrs John Puterbaugh of Pine township, is in critical condition after being bitten on the lower jaw by his father's horse Monday evening. The injury tore flesh toward the left ear and may leave permanent disfigurement.

The State Board of Public Charities urged the State Senate to increased maintenance appropriations for Berwick and Bloomsburg hospitals. Berwick maintenance rises from 5 000 to 6 000 and Bloomsburg maintenance climbs to 10 000 with no building requests this year. The board says the recommendations amount to increases, not cuts, and carry weight with the Legislature and Governor.

In Warren Pennsylvania on Feb 46 nine men cremated when a two story bunk house of the Tionesta Valley Chemical company burned after a gas stove exploded. Six others injured, two fatally. All foreigners employed in wood cutting and chemical extraction. Injured sent to Summit hospital Kane. A similar Mayburg blast killed two men a woman and a baby a year ago.

Attendees included Judge Evans and many local lawyers and officials from Berwick Catawissa Centralia Bloomsburg and nearby towns.
