Forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with scattered showers possible through Monday. Expect unsettled conditions across St George Cedar City and nearby areas with periods of sun and clouds.

A school bus plunged 224 feet after leaving an off ramp in Martinez California killing two aboard and injuring many. Among the dead was Dean Estabrook’s wife and 24 people survived with nine in critical condition. Authorities cited guardrail damage and curve design while noting no skid marks linked to any vehicle.
The Iron County Courthouse in Parowan was dedicated Saturday under Iron County Commission direction. Judge J Harlan Burns called it the most important courthouse to them in the world as plans and funding tensions dominated years of debate ending with a 933,532 final bid over the original bonding amount.
The Yuba community mourns as a bus carrying a high school choir to a California concert crashes on a bridge off ramp. Twenty seven students and one adult died. memorial services are planned at the school with exams and graduation approaching. Local families recall the victims as top students while many weekend events are canceled.
Cedar City Council tabled Iron County Commission plans to place a November ballot question on leaving the Southwestern Health District. The panel also set Thursday meetings, discussed garbage pickup bids, annexation talks, a water study, a police resignation, a zone change hearing, and bids for fuel and auditing services.
Elder L Tom Perry of the Council of the Twelve will dedicate the Brigham Young Winter Home and the Jacob Hamblin Home as official visitor centers in St George. The 1:30 p.m. service at the St George Tabernacle will be followed by dedications at 2:30 p.m. in the Brigham Young Home and 3:30 p.m. in the Jacob Hamblin Home in Santa Clara. Public invites welcomed.
