Oldest man carries bear, receives honorary diploma

Charlie Smith, 133, named oldest person in the United States, wore cap and gown and carried a briefcase and teddy bear to accept an honorary high school diploma in Bartow Florida. In Norfolk Virginia a man released an hour earlier for illegal pistol possession opened fire in the 34 Club. David McRae 21 shot eight people before killing himself with a 45 caliber pistol. Victims included Gramond Clark 32 Raymond Babbs 31 Steven Ballard 27 and Alfred White 29. Navy man Harry Chipchase 27 was treated for a hip wound. Linwood McKay 20 and Rebecca Dobbins 93 were released after minor wounds.
