In Warrenton Oregon a cement truck tipped into swampy ground after a wheel ran onto a soft shoulder. Firefighters pumped water to keep cement from hardening and two cranes plus four dump trucks arrived to recover the vehicle. A water meter was damaged and city crews repaired the line.
Donald L. Raymond was bound over to district court after a preliminary hearing for allegedly stealing 4702.35 dollars from the Metro gas station he managed in Cedar City. His wife Gladys Raymond faced the same charge, a second degree felony, with a ruling held under advisement.
Secretary Vance reported West German Chancellor Schmidt sees no end to the road in arms talks with Moscow as U S and Soviet negotiators plan high level discussions in Geneva in May. Breaching the current stalemate, Vance said Carter would resist moving to boost arms programs. Russian-born professor George De Mohrenschildt reportedly said in March minutes he was responsible for the activities of Lee Harvey Oswald in Dallas.
