Washington raises library levys mill
The Washington County mill levy was increased by a quarter mill to fund the county library system. The previous levy was three quarters of a mill, raising the total combined levy to about 13.75 mills for 1977. Projections show the current 12.73 mill levy will generate roughly 3.57 million for general fund revenues, with the library levy adding about 11,273 to the library budget for a total of 45,092. Other revenue sources include federal revenue sharing, road funds, city and precinct fines, and TV licenses. The commission approved a $2,472 increase for low income housing funds, bringing total housing aid to 7,145. Also discussed were lighting and licensing requests for Harrisburg junction, county tax assessment issues related to LaVerkin property, road needs in Ence subdivision, and a Sept. 17 surplus property sale. Weather: Cedar City and St George expect sunny, warm days with highs near 90 to 100.
