Diablo 6000-Acre Fire Contained Amid Broader California Wildfires
A 6,041 acre blaze on Mt. Diablo was contained as crews shift to hundreds of other lightning fires across drought-hit Northern California. No structures burned though several ranch homes were evacuated. 600 firefighters moved to assist other outbreaks. Other fires spanned Alaska, Colorado and the coastline near Big Sur where a 12,000 acre blaze continued. The Ventana wilderness area near Big Sur remained closed.
