Pastime Club Stalwart Oversees Historic Colfax Bar

Elvira Bianchi runs The Pastime Club in downtown Colfax after the death of her husband Harry Bianchi on July 15, 2003. The century-old building dates to the 1860s and still reflects early Colfax construction. She begins each day by opening the front doors and, in winter, using a wood stove to warm the bar.

Chimney Fire Strikes Colfax Building Draws Multi-Agency Help

A chimney fire at a Colfax building drew multiple agencies after smoke billowed high. Firefighters from CDF Station 30, Placer Hills, Alta, and Peardale fought a blocked roof access race to contain the blaze. A ladder truck from Auburn extended to the roof as crews checked for spread into walls and cleared the attic. Main Street was closed briefly while they searched for the fire origin, with residents left anxious until containment was confirmed.
