The 94 page booklet German War Practices from the Committee of Public Information includes a German diary passage claiming German troops executed male residents of Nomeny and burned the town during martial law. Mrs. Lucy Tanner Dead in Cokeville on Christmas Eve

Mrs. Lucy Tanner longtime Cokeville resident pioneer and hotel operator died of heart failure Christmas Eve morning at her son Shirley Tanner’s ranch while visiting for the holidays. Funeral services were held at the L D S church with J W Cook of Paris officiating. She leaves five sons and three daughters.

Douglas to Host Wyoming Wool Growers Convention in May

Douglas Good Roads and Commercial Club plans elaborate entertainment for about five hundred wool growers from Wyoming and beyond. The event runs May 9 to 11 at the Princess Theatre with rooms offered by residents and delegations from each county expected to attend. A National Wool film will be shown and notable speakers are promised along with other features.

Fire Destroys O S L Car. Two Rescued

Last Sunday night about 11:30 an O S L Ry outfit car burned furiously in our town. Foreman Russell and crew were on duty when a stove pipe overheated, sparking the blaze. McKinney forced entry, saving two sleeping men. car and tools were a total loss.

Negro killed near town after freight ride incident

A unidentified Black man was found dead about one and a half miles west of town after a westbound freight left at seven. He had a broken leg and serious head injuries. The coroner at Kemmerer was notified to arrange disposal.

Four Hundred Leave Camp Wheeler Without Permission

Four hundred enlisted men at Camp Wheeler Georgia overrode orders and deserted for Christmas. Many were apprehended and returned. nearly 200 remained absent. Absence without leave could bring a sentence of 30 to 90 days.
