Mrs. R. A. Morton of Cheyenne announces her candidacy for the Republican nomination for State Superintendent of Schools. She is a well known civic leader with qualifications for a role that includes membership on the State Land Board and other key state duties.
The 94 page booklet German War Practices from the Committee of Public Information includes a German diary passage claiming German troops executed male residents of Nomeny and burned the town during martial law. The text notes atrocities against women and children transported into France. Copies are available free from the Committee at 10 Jackson Place Washington DC.
L D S Church announces Sunday program with Sunday school at 10 30 a m and evening service at 7 30 p m Bear Lake visitors will attend and an invitation is extended to all Watches repaired by F B Resnerer to keep correct time.
Mrs. Lucy Tanner longtime Cokeville resident pioneer and hotel operator died of heart failure Christmas Eve morning at her son Shirley Tanner’s ranch while visiting for the holidays. Funeral services were held at the L D S church with J W Cook of Paris officiating. She leaves five sons and three daughters.
Douglas Good Roads and Commercial Club plans elaborate entertainment for about five hundred wool growers from Wyoming and beyond. The event runs May 9 to 11 at the Princess Theatre with rooms offered by residents and delegations from each county expected to attend. A National Wool film will be shown and notable speakers are promised along with other features.
Last Sunday night about 11:30 an O S L Ry outfit car burned furiously in our town. Foreman Russell and crew were on duty when a stove pipe overheated, sparking the blaze. McKinney forced entry, saving two sleeping men. car and tools were a total loss.

A New York Times correspondent notes Mrs E M House wife of Colonel House in Europe has met royals premiers and generals and is rarely interviewed She says American women are deeply engaged in war work with many giving up social life to knit and support the effort Europe remains distant yet aware of the Yellow peril of American women in uniform duties and devotion.
Four hundred enlisted men at Camp Wheeler Georgia overrode orders and deserted for Christmas. Many were apprehended and returned. nearly 200 remained absent. Absence without leave could bring a sentence of 30 to 90 days.
