Negro porter capture ends traveling man's assault case
Ralph Pearce, Palouse reporter, was captured after a clash near Viola. Oscar Travis, a traveling salesman, was struck with an iron bar wrapped in a napkin as he boarded a train. Militants pursued the suspect as he fled along the railway, then left Garfied after the assault. Marshals brought the suspect to Palouse, to be turned over to Whitman County authorities today.
