New York Paper Trust Fined for Restraint of Trade
Twenty paper manufacturers were fined 1900 in federal court for maintaining an illegal restraint of trade. Judge Hough noted extenuating circumstances but imposed fines after pleas of guilty. The case traced back to a pool formed in 1906 by the Manta and Familiaration associations to fix production and raise prices, with several companies named and the total fine distributed among them.

Court Denies Habeas Writ in Juvenile Law Case

It holds the 1905 act to provide for delinquent children is paternal and charitable, not penal, and so does not infringe the minor’s right to liberty while under parental or guardian restraint and state care.
