Power craft from Boston to Shelburne Nova Scotia assemble at Boron Yacht Club as the ocean race begins tomorrow. Jointly run by Boston and Shelburne Yacht Clubs, the event offers a $250 Harvard College Daniels Club cup and an extra Boston Yacht Club prize for boats finishing within six hours of the winner. Course distance 260 miles, limit 5 to 20 feet overall.
The Masonic orders organized an excursion to St Joe aboard the steamer Idaho donated by J C Waite of Red Collar line. About 300 excursionists boarded after nine o clock, including non members and Spokane residents. Lunch was served by the Eastern Star ladies and committees worked to ensure comfort. The boat is to return at about nine this evening.
A dispatch from Yosemite California reports fires burning for days in the Petch and Hetchey valleys. Cavalry units are being sent to assist, with Major Benson leading combat efforts at Hoge Ranch. Thousands have been burned and crews estimate many more victims as the blaze rages.
