The Young Australia League plans a six month travel tour for 150 boys aged 13 to 18 from across Europe. Departing Fremantle February 4 1955 aboard RMS Otranto, the itinerary covers Naples Rome Florence Venice Milan Nice Paris Switzerland Munich Cologne Brussels Amsterdam London and more before returning via Gibraltar Suez and the Mediterranean. Education by travel is the aim with visits to manufacturing centers historic sites and educational institutions to foster broader outlook and cross Commonwealth understanding. The Deputy Director Mr Jack Cotterill leads with a strict tour team and uniformed participants. Instalment payments are offered to keep costs down and open to all Australian boys with further details available.
The Cobram Barooga Golf Day drew 180 competitors starting at 8 30 am with smooth execution aided by an energetic workers group. Net profits are expected between 400 and 500 pounds aided by a sausage barbecue and Legacy button sales. trophies were presented by Digger Grigg with several event innovations proving popular.
