Birthday of Cobram Country Women’s Association Celebrated
The Cobram branch marked its ninth anniversary at the Mechanics Institute on a Friday afternoon. The event featured a decorated hall, National Anthem, a welcome by Miss E. O'Brien, poetry and songs by Mrs. Hallibone Mrs. Brooks Miss Lonergan with pianist Miss Glenis Caldwell, and posies for Katamatite members. Cakes were cut by Mrs. Ken Lukies, a Comforts Fund light, Red Cross sendoff, and prizes awarded to Mona Buncle and Mrs. K Lukies. Afternoon tea followed with a War Savings Certificate winner named Mrs. McDermott.

State School Enrolment Rises as Fundraiser Planned
School enrolment climbs past one hundred with new infant registrations. A dance and euchre at Mechanics Hall tonight to aid State Schools War Relief attracts promised donations and food. Parents who have not been canvassed are urged to help. A wood day last Saturday saw a supply hauled to Mr Ritchie’s saw bench and cut for the school grounds with tea provided by Mrs. Ritchie and Miss Tomlin. A Grand Dance and Euchie is scheduled for June 23 at Mechanics Hall to support the Swimming Pool War Effort.
