The engagement of Wilma Eileen, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anderson of Cobram, to Michael John, third son of Mr. and Mrs. Dowdell of Tocumwal, is announced. The couple plan to wed in the near future.
The Central Murray Valley Pennant Association held its championship rinks at Cobram last Sunday with sixteen rinks competing. Bellis's rink from YarraWonga won the title, while a Cobram rink led by T O'Reilly and including S Gregory G Duncan and W Sim reached the semi finals. Pairs and singles events will proceed at Yarrawonga next Sunday with Cobram’s Alan Marxson in the singles and Golds, Blacks squads naming two pairs each.
In relation to the 19th Security Loan which opened March 9 Cobram has moved from towns of 500 to 1000 population to towns of 2000 to 4000. Cobram's quota in the Loan is £9000.

In the 1953 Dairy Production Improvement Competition the winning team includes Cobram’s L Keast and H Kinross of Katunga with H McGlone of Baulkamaugh and J A Rumble of Drouin winning the state title and Welch Perrin Prize. Prizes awarded to P McGowan Indigo Upper K S Walker Dederang and P M Brown Kyabram. Replicas go to Brown Keast Kinross and McGlone.
A Department of Agriculture special course on tractors and farm machinery will be held at Dookie College from April 26 to May 7 for primary producers aged 18 and over. The program covers operation and care of tractors trucks and farm machinery shearing gear and dairying cereal harvesting tillage soil conservation horticulture and fodder conservation with practical training and firm talks.
