A successful gymkhana was held at Cobram Barooga golf links over the long weekend. Winners include S McGur gim with 90-22-68 in Stroke Handicap, Mr and Mrs K Grant in Mixed Foursomes with 82-18-83, and B Grant with Miss Hutche in Handicap. G Woods won 6A and T P O’Reilly, Harden, assisted by Mrs J. in a 18 Hol augh Event. counts determined on back.
North eastern riders competed in a 35 mile handicap road race at Wangaratta on Queen's Birthday under poor conditions. Rough terrain and gusty winds caused about half the starters to fail to finish while several riders attempted notable moves. A 15 mile handicap is planned next, as the club eyes a return to form after the challenging event.

At the Cobram Scouts Group Committee annual meeting, president A R Denson and Senior Scoutmaster M Denson reported a useful year with good attendance. Outdoor activities were limited, senior scouts attended Easter camp at Mt Gayz, and the Cubs showed growth with nine new recruits amid strong guiding support.
A Cobram area tree planting plan was adopted with calls to contact the Shi Enginer and offer suggestions before Monday July 12. The report was accepted as final.
Katandra No. 2 defeated Katamatite by one point 750 to 749 on Saturday. Top scorers for Katandra were A McRorie Ashton 95 E Moylan 95 W Sim 95 J Inglis 94 A Flett 93 J Carnican 92 with W Sutherland 90. Katamatite’s M Sidebottom 100 K Currie 99 G Longmuir 88 B Taylor 84 A Patrick 92 J McPherson 91 K Longmuir 90 P Keegan 86.
