Mr Leo Kennedy of Toorak spent a few days in Cobram last week renewing old acquaintances and was guest of Dr and Mrs G J Kennedy. He formerly ran a dentistry practice in Cobram. The death of Mr Robert Johnson of Wangaratta, formerly in charge of Cobram police, is announced with funeral held in Wangaratta. Engagements noted for Catherine Ellen Cruickshank and John Desmond Dwyer and for Beverley Crosby and Peter Dawes receive best wishes.

Floors must be washed with hot water and soda and disinfected, tools sterilised in lysol, and chutes and pens kept clean. The Sheep Dipping Act 1942 requires dipping all sheep after shearing or isolating them, with time limits and penalties, plus reporting returns to the Chief Veterinary Inspector.

DDT Not Short in Australia Says Minister Moss
Victoria will not face a DDT shortage for orchard spraying this year says Agriculture Minister G C Moss MLA. A broadcast warned of a world shortage but a follow up indicated local DDT makers expect no trouble meeting normal Australian demand. Some orchardists bought large quantities causing temporary local scarcities and unfairness to others.

Dookie College runs farmer education classes for 300 enrolled
Victorian Department of Agriculture reports 300 students attended special courses at Dookie Agricultural College since late last year. Thirty women joined a country women class in February. Courses cover dairy farming, pig raising, sheep husbandry, soil conservation, machinery, horticulture, poultry, junior young farmers, and country women. Fees are low, with board and tuition included.
