The Cobram and Strathmerton Anglican and Catholic services are listed for December 24 with morning Holy Communion, a Soldier Settlement service, and a 7 30 pm carol event at Cobram. Christmas Day Masses follow at 6 30 and 8 am. Also notes parish offices closing for the legal vacation from December 23 to January 12.
The Queen of Commerce committee appeals for funds to wind up the last week of competition. An anonymous donor contributes £10 to the fund. All donations will be acknowledged in the Courier on January 5, 19%.

The Farm Competitions Association reports strong interest in wheat crop contests across the Mallee and Northern Districts. Four championships will be decided this year including Mallee Northern District Northern Wimmera and Southern Wimmera. Local societies in the Northern District judged the best 50 acres with H C H Watson supervising. On Sunday morning at 11 30 the first service will be held in the settlement area at Mr R N Browning Block 89. In the evening at 7 30 the Carol Service of Nine Lessons replaces Evensong with portions projected on a screen. Christmas Day services advertised.
