A 14 day stay was granted on appeal with a 1 fine in default 2 days imprisonment for insulting language. negligent driving charge withdrawn. Police testified Slattery, injured in the crash, had been drinking. Johnson denied hitting anyone.

Scots Church Ladies' Guild Social at Mechan ics Institute

Women of the C W A in Cobram enjoyed the Home Science Van visit with crafts displays and a note of spring energy. An arts and crafts display is planned for September 23 at Mech Hall, Cobram, while Yarroweyah hosts events and semi final football matches promise further thrills and social plans through the weekend.

The Cobram CWA Home Science Van visit attracted many locals who viewed arts and crafts displays showing use of natural resources. Mrs Patrick explained the Van's acquisition and upkeep while Mrs Swann led a basket making demonstration. afternoon tea followed as staff difficulties delayed some reports and items.

Cobram 3SR Friendship Club Celebrates Sixth Birthday

The Cobram Branch 3SR Friendship Club marked its sixth birthday at Mechanics Hall with visitors from Tocumwal Corowa Yarramonga Katamatite Berrigan Finley Nathalia and Benalla. Mrs Loof welcomed guests and retiring secretary Mrs Brady received a silver dish while Mrs Loof was presented a supper cloth and Mrs F. Markey a blue and gold tray cloth. The program featured songs recitations a play pick-a-box balloon games and ended with a birthday cake shaped like a book and an afternoon tea.

Obituary: Mrs H Richards Dies at 70 in Melbourne

Mrs H Richards, 70, died at Alfred Hospital Melbourne after an accident left her with disabilities. She was well known in Barooga and district, survived by brothers and sisters in Wham Cobram and Melbourne, and three daughters Vera Vida and Avis. Her husband predeceased her. Funeral at Barone Cemetery led by Rev Canon White Tocumwal.

Three youths charged with indecent language at Cobram

Three youths faced Cobram Court of Petty Sessions on Wednesday for using indecent language. The magistrate adjourned proceedings for six months with strict conditions including abstaining from liquor and potential return to court if required.
