Fatal Accident at Portland Cement Plant Near Greencastle
Frank Scroggins a 27 year old employee at the Portland cement plant near Greencastle was killed in a crane strike. He signalled the crane to a point on the track and was struck as it moved, suffering critical injuries to the chest neck and face. Dr Cassell C Tucker of Greencastle arrived too late. Scroggins resided in Putnamville and had recently married. Coroner J E McCurry investigated and took charge of the body.

Auto Stolen From Public Square In Greencastle
Charlie Knetzer of Fillmore reports his 1917 Ford touring car stolen from the south side of Greencastle public square last Saturday afternoon. Police alerted adjoining towns but no trace found. Knetzer and his son Gilbert were briefly away gathering hardware supplies.

Residents report a total lunar eclipse Sunday evening as the moon moved into Earth’s shadow shortly after sunset. The eclipse persisted until about 9 PM with a reddish glow caused by sunlight reflecting off the Earth’s surface.
