Eminent Dr J N Hurty Lectures In Coatesville

Dr J N Hurty spoke last Friday under the library board on health and disease. He argued health is priceless and linked disease to crime while praising vaccination and surgical advances. The talk featured educational illustrations and closed with entertaining pictures for children, praised as a top library series event.

Amo High School closes its 1913 14 basketball season with a published summary of results. The team beat Plainfield and Monrovia, lost to Shortridge in Bloomington tournament, and posted a total points tally of 879 for opponents 25? Amo. Individual scores list Hastings, Stuart, Brown, Jaumbert, Sooty, Philips, Bruart. Captain Ardith Phillips and manager Avon Draper named for 1914-15 with plans for a gymnasium and improved season outlook.

The Thimble Club Holds March Meeting at Mrs Phillips Home

The Thimble Club met March 10 at Mrs Claud Phillips home with 14 members answering roll call. A noon dinner followed by afternoon fancy work featured guests Mr and Mrs Cornet Mrs Edmondson Clayton Amos Waltz and Luther Chandler. Ordinance Regulating Interurban Electric Cars in Coatesville Indiana

Town of Coatesville enacts rules for interurban cars. Motormen must ring bells before street crossings. Speed restricted to eight miles per hour within town limits. Whistles required 300 to 600 feet before crossings. Violations carry fines up to ten dollars. Effective after passage and weekly publication.

Spotted Fever Reported in Indianapolis and Hendricks County

Spotted fever or epidemic spinal meningitis has appeared in Indianapolis and Hendricks county. State health officials will investigate and may take drastic measures to halt the spread. Dr. Will Shimer confirms cases at the city hospital and cites cultures from Hendricks county patients showing epidemic meningitis. Present Day Club Meet Highlights War Peace Debate

Mrs Virgil Davis hosted the Present Day Club on Thursday March 12 with roll call on About War or Peace. Mrs Johnson led the Magazine Review on Harvard University and New England poets were presented by Mrs Kniphs. Refreshments followed the social hour.
