Opal Storm Marries George Cheek in Terre Haute Home

Opal Storm daughter of Mr and Mrs Robert Storm and George Cheek of Terre Haute wed Tuesday at 2 pm in the bride’s parents home. The ceremony, performed by Scy J E Sherrill, featured Fern Wisehart at the organ and a luncheon afterward. The couple, acquainted two years, will reside in Terre Haute with Cheek working in mine labor and Storm active in the Baptist church.

Bert Huber Enlists in U S Army Aviation Corps

Gilbert Jacob Huber known as Bert Huber, son of a Coatesville family, enlisted in the U S Army aviation corps in Pittsburgh about a month ago. A Carnegie Tech training, selection among 700 for a two month aero motor and plane construction course in Boston, and pending commission as first lieutenant. He aims to fly someday and will be remembered in Coatesville with relatives Mrs. Darius Masten and Jacob Tuber.

Letter From Ernest King from Battle Creek Aviation Camp

Mr and Mrs Charles Green received a letter from their nephew Ernest King who is in the aviation corps at Battle Creek Michigan. He reports good health and duty conditions, he expects furlough soon, notes rapid morning drills, solid leadership, decent quarters and meals, and mentions a recent hospital stay for the red measles. He says he has gained weight and will share more when he visits home.

Women Demonstrator Funded by Sendricks Township Pledge

The townships of Sendricks county raise funds to hire a woman county demonstrator for one year. An application is sent to Purdue University for an agent who will be sent to assist in solving present community problems. Clay township women urged to provide loyal support, with thanks to supporting organizations.

Library Circulation and Cards Report for Amo Station

The library shows 483 volumes loaned to adults, 356 to juveniles, and 178 non fiction, totaling 1017. Seven or more application cards were signed. Amo Station loaned 610 volumes and 17 application cards were signed. Several titles remain in circulation including Private Peat, Bullets and Billets, Over the Top, The First Hundred Thousand, All to It, and the Camp Diary of a French Officer.

Federal income tax collector to visit Brownsburg and Clayton

The income tax collector will be at Danylile courthouse rest room all week. He will be at Hunter's Bank in Brownsburg on Monday Feb 25 and at the People's Bank and Trust Company in Clayton on Feb 26 and 27. All men should bring itemized income and expense statements to save time for both collector and taxpayer.

Well Known Man Dies in Ladoga

J J Oliver longtime community organizer and member of the Ladoga Christian church died at his home in Ladoga on January 30 after a brief illness. The church and Sunday school paid tribute with prayers and floral offerings reflecting deep love and respect for his memory.
