Kokomo Soldier Visits Relatives After Army Discharge
Bazil Wheeler of Kokomo nephew of Otis and William Wheeler visited relatives here last weekend. He was discharged from the army after enlisting in May 1947. He served in France since June 1918 and was on the front from Sept 11 until the armistice. He sailed from France Dec 20 arriving near Hampton Roads Virginia just before midnight New Year’s Eve. He was sent to camp and discharged. He called it the happiest New Year’s Eve the men on the boat had ever seen.
