Festival of Whales highlights Dana Point ocean trends and education
Marine mammal experts explain current ocean trends while Dana Wharf Whale Watching and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration join a five already active festival. About 700 students at Marian Bergeson Elementary in Laguna Niguel marked the Chinese New Year on Feb 23 during the schoolwide celebration. The district runs a five year Mandarin immersion program teaching reading writing and communication in English and Mandarin through a bilingual curriculum. Principal Greg Hauser said half the school learns Chinese making the event an easy introduction to Chinese culture.
