Robbers Attempt St. Bernice Store Hold Up
Two men entered Paxton Hartsook’s St. Bernice store Monday around six. One fired a revolver while the other tried to open the safe. The boy escaped upstairs. the robbers fled with no money. Later suspects were arrested for selling spectacles and jailed after cross examination. The Hartsook boy identified the Spanish men, who were bound over to court.

Bride of three months dies after gasoline blast
Roy Nichols, a Dana resident and wife of three months, suffered severe burns when gasoline in polish near a stove ignited. Neighbors urged her to jump into a nearby pond where the fire was extinguished, but the burns proved fatal the next morning. Funeral services were held at Thomas cemetery near Newport.
