Men’s suits range six to three hundred twenty five dollars with styles for boys and young men. Overcoats for all ages priced to beat competition. Dress and work shoes from one fifty to five dollars and up with durable workmanship. Boots in black and tan up to seven thirty. Full line includes underwear neckwear and sweaters. Savings promised.
Fire alarm at 3 am sent the department to Seventh and Anderson streets where the wash house barn coal shed and closet were consumed. A defective flue in the wash house is suspected. Resident was Wm. Sesso. Also an ad for four pedigreed Beagle puppies seven months old and suitable for training.
The common council finished hearing objectors to the sewer assessment and arranged all complaints to the satisfaction of those concerned. After hearing and adjusting claims, the council formally received the sewer. The completed contract covered about half the city and cost $21,595.20.
The Clinton Commercial Club led a campaign to educate foreign business men to pay by bank draft instead of cash. Committee members M. W. Robb H. M. Ferguson R. L. Amerman and Milton Headlee explained the plan and secured new bank accounts and checks. The change aims to keep about $5 000 weekly in local cash and reassure banks after recent financial fears.
J R Frist known as Uncle Dolph dies at home five miles northwest of Clinton in Hell township from apoplexy. At 81, he lived on the same farm for 40 years and leaves six sons and one daughter Sam Los Angeles Frank Little Rock Joseph El Paso Jediah Abbie in Hell Jas N postmaster Clinton and Mrs Charles Peeler Dana Indiana. Burial Sunday at Salem cemetery at 2 PM.
George Case, who suffered a crushed hand in a local mine about two weeks ago, died last Thursday from blood poisoning in the injured limb. Funeral services were held Friday and he was buried in Riverside Cemetery. For Rent house west of Willow Grove mine. B. R. Whitcomb.
Oral Cook and Miss Derexa Shew were wed Thursday night at the groom’s new East Elm Street home in front of about forty guests. The first supper was served by Mr. and Mrs. Cook. Mr. Cook runs a Main Street grocery and is part of Cook & Cook. the bride is daughter of farmer Lester Shew four miles south. The Plaindealer offers congratulations and best wishes.

A mass gathering of 1,200 to 1,500 miners rejected accepting checks for their work. President Van Horn of Terre Haute urged acceptance, but the miners voted against the plan after two hours of debate. The meeting followed merchants refusing cash for $1 checks offered by the Dering company as a test.

Newport Cayuga Gessie Perrysville and Terre Haute groups show support. Leaders plan incorporation survey and right of way, seeking traction companies and foreign capital if needed. Farmers along the route pledge donations and right of way access.
